Red dining rooms are a dime a dozen; red libraries as well. But how often do we see red bathrooms? Here are four, each very different, that provide wonderful inspiration for Asian-inspired decorating.

Muralist and decorative painter Lynne Rutter did the stunning Chinoiserie red powder room at left, photographed by David Pappas, for a 2002 San Francisco Decorator Showhouse. The timelessness of her Asian-inspired design makes the room look as fresh today as it did then. You can see more of her work at her blog, The Ornamentalist.

At right is an easily achievable look from Better Homes and Gardens. The drama of the red bathroom walls and vanity is punctuated by crisp white in the towels, shower curtain and fixtures. And the blue and white accessories add wonderful Asian–inspired flair to the decorating scheme.

The floral vessel sink pictured at left becomes the focal point in this Asian-inspired red bathroom from Better Homes and Gardens.
If a vessel sink is in your own bathroom remodeling plans, I found a great Kraus faucet at CSN Stores that you may want to check out.

I love its bamboo look! It’s shown at right in chrome but is also available in satin nickel, antique brass and oil rubbed bronze finishes. A perfect look for Asian-inspired bathroom design.

If toile and vintage is the look you prefer, then the red bathroom at right is just for you. Quite a showstopper, isn’t it?
I absolutely love the contrast of the red claw foot tub against the bright white subway tiles. Using the red toile wallpaper on just the top half of the wall keeps the pattern from being overwhelming and makes the tub even more of a standout. Photo from Terramia.
A bathroom is a perfect place to use red wallpaper, especially if you find larger doses of it too intimidating in a bedroom or living room. Below is a selection of York papers. Any one of them would add Asian-inspired decorating drama.
